George A. Velez is a New York-based filmmaker and actor. He’s taught filmmaking at Columbia University and Ghetto Film School. His film, Rebirth, premiered for Jerome Lamaar’s fashion line at New York Fashion Week. The narrative short films George wrote and directed, Eavesdropping and Children of the Night have played at numerous festivals and won directing awards.
As a producer, George has produced the Oscar-qualifying short, Like Salt, and produced Ovals: I Don’t Want to Love Myself, which was selected for Issa Rae’s Short Film Sunday. He has also produced videos in collaboration with Daveed Diggs, Black Thought from The Roots, Warner Bros., NBCUniversal, and 21st Century Fox.
